President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have said that the challenges confronting Pakistan and the Muslim Ummah today can only be resolved by following the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

In their separate messages on the occasion of 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal 1447H / 2025, marking the birth anniversary of the Prophet (PBUH), they stressed the need to introduce the younger generation to the blessed life of the Prophet, guiding them towards goodness, knowledge, and peace.

President Zardari, in his message, congratulated the entire nation and the Muslim world on this sacred day, calling it not only a moment of joy and devotion but also an opportunity to renew the pledge of shaping individual and collective lives in accordance with the Prophet’s (PBUH) teachings.

He said that along with this 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal, the 1,500th year of the Prophet’s blessed birth is also being commemorated, reminding us to adopt the universal principles of justice, mercy, brotherhood, and peace given by the Prophet (PBUH) in our social, political, and cultural systems. “This day unites Muslims across the globe on the foundation of faith, with the life of the Prophet of Mercy (PBUH) as its central axis,” he remarked.

President Zardari noted that Pakistan’s National Assembly and Senate, through unanimous resolutions, have decided to celebrate this historic milestone at the national level, reflecting the deep love and devotion of the entire nation for the Prophet (PBUH). Similarly, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has declared this year a commemorative year for the completion of 1,500 years since the blessed birth of the Prophet (PBUH), bringing the entire Muslim world together under the message of mercy.

He emphasized that the Prophet’s (PBUH) life teaches us that justice, compassion, brotherhood, equality, and respect for humanity form the foundation of a righteous society. At a time when the world is facing extremism, injustice, social unrest, and the unchecked impact of digitalization, it is essential to seek solutions in the light of the Prophet’s (PBUH) Seerah.

“Let us pledge on this blessed occasion to set aside our differences and work unitedly for the development of our country and nation,” he urged. He recalled that the Prophet (PBUH) always emphasized helping the weak, the orphans, and the needy, adding that this is our duty today. Referring to the devastating floods in different parts of the country caused by climate change, he said that joint efforts by the government, local administration, and relief agencies are underway for rescue and rehabilitation of the victims. “This is the moment to draw lessons from the life of the Prophet (PBUH), by extending wholehearted support to our people,” the President added.

He concluded with a call to make the Prophet’s (PBUH) teachings a guiding principle of life and to build a society founded on equality and peace.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, in his message, said that on 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal, 1,500 years ago, the blessed birth of the Last Messenger of Allah (PBUH) in Makkah illuminated the world, dispelling darkness and showing humanity the path of justice, mercy, equality, and unity.

He said that this year is being observed across Pakistan and the Muslim world as the Year of Rahmat-ul-lil-Alameen (PBUH). The resolutions of the National Assembly and Senate to celebrate the 1,500th year of the Prophet’s birth with reverence and devotion, he added, demonstrate the nation’s resolve to incorporate the Prophet’s (PBUH) teachings into the Constitution, law, and collective life of the country.

“The life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) is a complete and comprehensive model for all aspects of life—whether governance and politics, justice, economy and trade, or social values,” the Prime Minister said.

Whether it is societal values or moral principles, the life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) remains a timeless source of guidance for us. The Qur’an clearly tells us: “Indeed, in the Messenger of Allah you have an excellent example—for anyone who hopes in Allah and the Last Day.”

At a time when the world is rapidly changing, technology has shrunk distances and accelerated communication, it is imperative that we acquaint the younger generation with the blessed life of the Prophet (PBUH), guiding them towards goodness, knowledge, and peace.

The Prime Minister said that the Prophet’s (PBUH) life teaches us to use our words and speech for kindness and virtue. Therefore, it is our responsibility to inspire the youth not only with modern knowledge but also with the eternal principles of ethics that the Last Messenger of Allah (PBUH) laid down for the Ummah—principles rooted in love, brotherhood, and peace. We must strive to make Pakistan a living embodiment of the Prophet’s (PBUH) teachings, rejecting every form of prejudice, sectarianism, extremism, and hatred, while promoting unity, sacrifice, and harmony.

He added that Pakistan’s challenges—whether economic or social—can only find lasting solutions if we adopt the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) as part of our national character. The Prime Minister urged: “Let us renew our pledge today that we remain determined to build Pakistan on the golden principles of the Seerat-un-Nabi (PBUH). Our policies must aim at equality, poverty alleviation, and the promotion of knowledge and research so that Pakistan may truly become an Islamic welfare state.”

Concluding, he prayed: “May Allah Almighty keep Pakistan safe, grant us unity and solidarity, and bless us with the ability to live our lives in the love and obedience of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).”
