The Sixth Trilateral Foreign Ministers Dialogue was held on Wednesday in Kabul between Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister of Pakistan Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Foreign Minister of China Wang Yi and Acting Foreign Minister of Afghanistan Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, focusing on political, economic and security cooperation.
The three sides committed to strengthen joint efforts against terrorism. They also reaffirmed their commitment to deepening collaboration in trade, transit, regional development, health, education, culture, and combating drug trafficking, as well as, extension of CPEC to Afghanistan.
Afghanistan has assured Pakistan that its soil will not be allowed to be used by any terrorist group against Pakistan or any other country. This assurance was given by Afghanistan’s Acting Foreign Minister, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, during a meeting with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister.
According to the Spokesperson of the Foreign Office, the meeting took place in Kabul on the sidelines of the sixth trilateral meeting of the foreign ministers of China, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on bilateral relations, trade, security, and counterterrorism.
Both foreign ministers expressed satisfaction over the recent positive progress in bilateral relations and welcomed the decision to upgrade diplomatic representation from chargé d’affaires to the level of ambassadors in both countries. This decision was finalized at the trilateral meeting held in Beijing on May 21, 2025.
Referring to previous meetings—particularly the visits to Kabul in April and July 2025 and the Beijing meeting—both sides expressed satisfaction that most of the decisions have either been implemented or are close to completion, which has especially strengthened Pakistan-Afghanistan relations in the fields of trade and transit.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar appreciated the progress in relations but emphasized the need for further practical steps in the field of counterterrorism.
He referred to the recent terrorist attacks in Pakistan and urged effective action against organizations operating from Afghan soil, such as Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) Majeed Brigade.
On this occasion, the Afghan Foreign Minister assured that Afghanistan would not allow any terrorist organization to use its territory against Pakistan or any other country.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister thanked the Afghan government for its hospitality and congratulated them on the successful holding of the trilateral meeting.
