The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has issued a formal statement regarding the high-level meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Field Marshal Asim Munir.

According to ISPR, the meeting took place in the Oval Office of the White House, and prior to that, President Trump hosted a luncheon in the Cabinet Room in honor of the Pakistani military chief.

From the U.S. side, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff were present at the meeting. On the Pakistani side, Field Marshal Asim Munir was accompanied by his National Security Advisor.

During the meeting, the Army Chief expressed gratitude on behalf of Pakistan and its people to President Trump for his constructive and effective role in facilitating a ceasefire between Pakistan and India. He also praised Trump’s leadership abilities in understanding and confronting the many challenges faced by the global community.

President Trump appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for regional peace and acknowledged the ongoing counterterrorism cooperation between the two countries. Both sides agreed to continue collaboration in this domain.

Trump also expressed interest in a positive trade agreement based on mutual benefit with Pakistan. Both parties reached a consensus to enhance cooperation in multiple sectors including economic and trade, mines and minerals, artificial intelligence, energy, cryptocurrency, and others.

The meeting also included detailed discussions on the Iran-Israel conflict. Trump praised the leadership and decisive capabilities of Field Marshal Asim Munir.

The Army Chief extended an invitation to President Trump to visit Pakistan on behalf of the Government of Pakistan, and it was agreed that the visit’s date will be decided through mutual consultation.

According to ISPR, although the meeting was initially scheduled for one hour, discussions continued for over two hours. The meeting is expected to strengthen the longstanding partnership between the U.S. and Pakistan, based on shared goals of peace, stability, and prosperity.

President Trump’s luncheon in honor of Field Marshal Munir is being hailed as a major milestone, with observers noting that such warmth in Pakistan–U.S. relations has rarely been seen before.

During the visit, Field Marshal Munir also met with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. He briefed President Trump on the threat of war between Pakistan and India and discussed the regional security situation.

This historic visit reflects Pakistan’s strategic identity at the global level and the growing recognition of its military leadership.
