Army Chief Asim Munir visits Karachi Police Office after brazen terror attack

President Dr. Arif Alvi on Saturday visited Jinnah hospital to inquire after the health of police and Rangers personnel who got injured during an operation against terrorists at the Police Chief office.

He paid tribute to the sacrifices of the forces and commended the forces for fighting with bravery. He also prayed for the early recovery of the injured.

Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir on Saturday visited the office of the Karachi police chief, which came under attack by TTP militants on Friday.

The country’s top general was briefed by law enforcement officials and civil administration at the police compound in the southern city of Karachi.

COAS was briefed on the successful coordinated counterterrorism operation. Gen Asim, along with Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and the Corps commander, visited a medical facility in the provincial capital to enquire about the wellbeing of security personnel injured in an operation to take control of a police compound that militants had stormed.

The top general also interacted with troops and commended officers for their courage, and spirit.

High-level committee formed to probe attack

A data after the covert attack, Sindh police formed a committee to investigate the incident on the Karachi Police Office (KPO). A five-member committee comprising Sindh Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) Zulfiqar Ali Larik will lead the committee while Karachi South Zone DIGP Irfan Ali Baloch, Crime Investigation Agency DIGP Muhammad Karim Khan, Karachi CTD Operations Senior Superintendent of Police Tariq Nawaz and Karachi CTD Investigation Incharge Raja Umer Khitab will probe the incident in detail and submit report to top officials.

On Friday, a counter-terrorism operation from personnel of the Pakistan Army, Rangers, and Sindh Police was launched after militants stormed the police compound.

TTP claimed responsibility for brazen attack in which all militants were gunned down by midnght.
