After the verdict of prohibited funding case, the coalition government has devised a plan to take action against the close aides of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and the central leaders across the country, citing sources.

The federal authorities decided to carry out legal action against Imran Khan and his close aides in a few days after the announcement of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) verdict on the PTI prohibited funding case.

Sources told that the actions will be taken by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and other concerned institutions across the country under the 12-point charge sheet of the election commission against Imran Khan. Different teams will swing into action across Pakistan at once.

PTI central and provincial leaders are likely to face arrests and other legal actions in the coming days. The PTI leaders included Asad Qaiser, Qasim Suri, Imran Ismail, Shah Farman, Mahmoodur Rasheed, Najeeb Haroon, Samar Ali Khan, Seema Zia and others.

Sources further said that the authorities decided include four employees of PTI central secretary and six members of the political party’s central finance board.

Earlier in the day, it was learnt that the federal government on Wednesday has decided to move SC for disqualification of PTI chief Imran Khan.

The decision was taken in a meeting of law experts headed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad. The meeting was also attended by the leaders of the coalition parties.

The law experts briefed the huddle about the decision of the ECP in PTI prohibited funding case. Sources said the government after briefing decided to file a petition in the SC seeking disqualification of Imran Khan and a ban on PTI.

It is pertinent to mention here that Khan had announced to stage a protest outside ECP offices in Lahore, Islamabad and Peshawar which will be attended by PTI lawmakers and a large number of activists.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday announced the much-awaited verdict in the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) prohibited funding case.

The ECP bench in its reserved verdict said prohibited funding against PTI has been proven.

ECP, in its unanimous verdict, ruled that the party received funds from business tycoon Arif Naqvi and from 34 foreign nationals.

A three-member bench headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikander Sultan Raja, comprising Nisar Ahmed Durrani and Shah Muhammad Jatoi announced the reserved verdict.

The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) has decided to move the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) for disqualification of former prime minister Imran Khan and ban his party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

A meeting of the legal team was held here with Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in the chair on Wednesday, was briefed by Federal Minister for Law and Justice Senator Chaudhry Azam Nazir Tarar Advocate regarding the matter.

It was decided in the meeting that the apex court would be approached for disqualification of Imran Khan and ban on PTI.

PDM President Maulana Fazalur Rehman said that after decision of Foreign Funding Case by the ECP, the office-bearers of PTI must be arrested and their employees be investigated as soon as possible.

Since 2013, foreign funding of PTI needs to be investigated as Imran Khan is not only an accused but he is also a criminal for it has been proved, Fazalur Rehman said.

He said that Imran Khan is consistently lying before the youth as his narrative changes with every passing day, adding now his arrest will be made by following law and Constitution.

He said that Imran Khan submitted fake certificated which he termed as breach of Constitution, and continued that to collapse the building of State he took assistance from the external powers.

Every institution which is full of vigor of safeguarding the country should stand by the Stated, he said, adding it has been proved that he is a toy in the hands of foreign powers. The PDM president said that Imran Khan took assistance from 351 foreign companies and 34 foreign nationals which shows what was his agenda.

He said that Imran concealed 16 bank accounts which is a matter of serious concern, adding at first they appreciated the ruling of the ECP while afterwards they are making announcements of staging a demonstration in front of ECP.
