ITU Secretary General visits Telenor Digital Festival

Houlin Zhao, Secretary General, International Telecommunication Union (ITU), visited Pakistan to witness the growing and evolving ecosystem of mobile telecommunication services in the country. During his visit, he was also briefed about digital products and applications at Telenor Digital Fest in Islamabad. He lauded Telenor’s role for spearheading the digital transformation in Pakistan for the empowerment of its people. Later on Secretary General International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Houlin Zhao visited the headquarters of Pakistan’s leading cellular network Zong, here on Tuesday.

He was accompanied by Chairman Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Dr. Ismail Shah, ED Frequency Allocation Board (FAB), Brig. Sami and senior officials from Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications.

The delegation was given a comprehensive briefing regarding various initiatives taken by Zong to boost the telecom sector in Pakistan.

The delegates appreciated key measures initiated by Zong to become the most effective and innovative 4G network in the country.

The delegation also visited Zong’s state-of-the-art 4G Enterprise Solution Experience Centre and were impressed with its remarkable functioning and lauded its key Internet of Things (IOT) and Enterprise Information solutions.
The delegation was apprised of Zong’s initiatives specially designed to cater to industry specific enterprise solutions in transportation, healthcare and energy sector of Pakistan in particular.

Extending his gratitude to the visiting delegates, Chairman PTA, DG FAB and Secretary General ITU in particular, CEO & Chairman Zong, Mr. Liu Dianfeng said “Our teams are working very hard not only to bring new technology to the Pakistani people but also the applications and end-to-end solutions and enhance the quality of life for the local people. These solutions have been exclusively developed by Zong and have been tried and tested in China which will now be available in Pakistan.”
Zong also showed its keen interest to perform trial runs of 5G technology during the session, its willingness to adopt the latest technology and be an industry leader in the nation in providing the latest and most advanced technological solutions for its customers.
