“HMIS handed over Sheikh Zayed Medical Complex (SZMC), Lahore

On the direction of the Minister of State for IT Miss Anousha Rehman, National Information Technology Board (NITB), Federal Ministry of Information Technology formally handed over the PSDP IT Project Titled “HMIS at Tertiary Health Care Level at Sheikh Zayed Medical Complex (SZMC), Lahore,  to Punjab IT Board (PITB). Handing over of the project was completed today in presence of officials from MOIT, Sheikh Zayed Medical Complex and PITB.

The Chairman (SZH) welcomed the participants and stated that Health Management Information System (HMIS) is important to- ensure efficiency and transparency in all activities of the hospital and to provide improved health services to citizens, better health care delivery through the use of automation of medical records, automation of laboratory reports, pharmacy information, improved and efficient medical data retrieval, maintain historical data of patient and ensure its on time availability. He appreciated the role of the Ministry of IT particularly Minister IT Anousha Rehman and her team in ensuring the completion of the project.

ED, NITB further explained that HMIS project was conceived in 2005 and with cost of Rs. 39.973 which was required to be completed within two (02) years. But no work was done on the project that could ensure its completion within stipulated time. When the new government took oath, the Minister took cognizance of the delay and rapidly followed up its completion.
