NUST hosting week-long Workshop

Nust is hosting a week-long workshop on Entrepreneurship for Scientists and Engineers at its Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE). The workshop is being conducted in collaboration with the U.S. Department of State, USAID, Higher Education Commission Pakistan, National Academy of Sciences, ASME Pakistan, and the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics.

The opening ceremony, held at NUST was chaired by Rector NUST, Engr. Muhammad Asghar. Dr. E William Colglazier, Science and Technology Adviser to U.S. Secretary of State, also graced the opening ceremony as Chief Guest. In his welcome remarks, Rector NUST highlighted the efforts being made at NUST to promote innovation and entrepreneurship, which include Pakistan’s first Technology Incubation Centre in academia.

The intensive workshop is designed for scientists and engineers from Pakistan who are interested in learning entrepreneurial skills and applying their expertise, ideas and innovation – particularly in the water, energy, food, and health sectors – to address the needs of 70% of Pakistan’s population that make less than two dollars a day. 50 different scientists, engineers and aspiring entrepreneurs from all over Pakistan are attending the workshop, which is being conducted by a line-up of prominent international speakers including Dr Bernard Amadei, US Science Envoy, Dr Surya Raghu, President Advanced Fluids Inc. and Dr Faysal Sohail, General Partner CMEA Capital. To share their local experiences, successful entrepreneurs from Pakistan have also been invited.
