The students of Telecom Engineering Department, Military College of Signals visited Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Headquarters. Chairman PTA, Dr. Syed Ismail Shah and senior officers of PTA were present on this occasion.

During the visit, Chairman PTA informed the participants about working and role of PTA. He spoke about the latest developments in the telecom industry especially the recent 3G/4G spectrum auction. Chairman PTA said that as reflected from the telecom indicators, growth in the telecom sector has been immense in recent years. Similarly, education sector has also shown tremendous growth in terms of adding up an increased number of educational and professional institutions, development of faculty and students’ enrolments whereas growth in research on IT & telecom in Pakistan has not been proportionate.
Chairman said that PTA has always been an academia friendly organization and we hold utmost respect and regard for academia in our hearts. He said that PTA has been working towards encouraging research activities in telecom sector. PTA has taken initiatives to establish linkages with the educational institutions for promoting telecom research. The research on forthcoming regulatory issues and challenges and, transfer of new technologies is likely to assist the regulator and the policy makers.
On this occasion, Chairman PTA presented souvenirs to the visiting faculty members of Military College of Signals Col (Rtd) Zameer Bhatti and Course Advisor of Military College of Signals Dr. Adil.
