Mobilink and Telenor expressed strong reservations on PTCL EVO

Mobilink and Telenor Pakistan have expressed strong reservations over the fact that PTA has not taken firm action against PTCL EVO.  Both companies have asked President Mamnoon Hussian  and Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif to take strong action against PTCL EVO which has been using 3G technology to provide internet to its customers. The Ptcl holding WLL license with no limit.  Both companies had asked the President Prime minister and regulatory authority that PTCL shouldn’t be using 3G when they have to pay considerable sum of money for it. This was stated in a meeting held last week at President House and Prime Minister’s House.

PTA has replied to their reservations by stating that it has already taken action against PTCL EVO. However representatives from both the companies have stated that writing a letter to PTCL is not a strong action since millions of dollars’ worth of licenses are going be auctioned whereas PTCL has been using the same spectrum without any considerable sum of investment. Jo Lunder, CEO of VimpelCom group, parent company of Mobilink, is on a visit of Pakistan during which he has held meetings with several office holders in the country. Jo met with President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Minster of State for Information & technology Anusha Rehman and Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Chairman Dr. Ismail Shah. He also held meetings with the big-wigs at Mobilink administration.
