“ICTs for Girls Project” by Ministry of IT is Up and Running

On the eve of Literacy Day, Ministry of IT has rolled out digital enabled women empowerment centers wide across the country.  Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Minister for IT Mrs. Anusha Rahman has made these centers operational as part of ICTs for Girls Project.  Through this project thousands of young girls are being trained through Microsoft’s Coding and Computing program aiming at enhancing the employability potential of young girls. While inaugurating the ceremonies at their respective places the Parliamentarians have thanked Prime Minister and Minister for IT for the establishment of these centers at their respective places and expressed hope that through this initiative the community would benefit from large number of girls digitally educated and skilled, who could not only empower themselves for financial self sustenance but would empower the whole community for a growing Pakistan.

On this occasion, Minister for IT Mrs. Anusha Rahman said, “Seeing all these centers operational in a minimal possible time by ensuring quality infrastructure and state of the art skills enablement was my continual focus.  I am grateful to Allah for providing me the strength to steer forward this project for a very noble purpose of empowering our future through the girls and women.  I am hopeful that these girls being trained under Microsoft’s computing and coding program in a highly enabled digital environment will prove to be a great asset for the growth of Pakistan.  This is Phase I of the program, and inshallah we are rolling out hundreds of such centers in coming months. We are determined to unleash the true potential of Digital Pakistan under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif whose vision of proliferating technology for empowering the society is the continual guidance for us”

MD Baitulmal Mr. Abid Sheikh has thanked Prime Minister and Minister for IT for establishing these centers at Baitulmal run facilities. He said, “With these centers we can enable a large number of girls from less advantaged segments of society to help support their families by up skilling them in Information Technology through formal and informal means of employment.  He has assured his all out support to make these centers run and function in line with the true spirit of the program”.
